Algorithm Engineer for our new Quantum Bioinformatics Team

Our Cosy.Bio lab is pioneering the field of quantum bioinformatics and comprised of experts from various disciplines, working together to develop innovative solutions that transform the way we do medicine in the future using modern computational technologies.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled physicist, computer scientist, and/or mathematician to join our team, working on a cutting-edge quantum bioinformatic optimization problem project. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing algorithms for bioinformatics applications, using quantum computing techniques. Your expertise will play a crucial role in advancing our Systems Medicine research and contributing to the development of novel solutions for medical data analysis towards personalized medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Using our knowledge of the foundations of quantum physics, to test bottom-up approaches to the development of genuinely new quantum algorithms and/or the optimization of existing ones

  • Design, development, and optimization of algorithms for Systems Medicine applications, using quantum computing techniques

  • Collaborate with our team of researchers and developers to integrate algorithms into our software framework

  • Conduct research and development in the area of quantum bioinformatics, focusing on optimization techniques and algorithmic solutions

  • Analyze and improve the performance of algorithms using various metrics and benchmarks

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in quantum computing and bioinformatics, and apply this knowledge to improve our algorithms and solutions

  • Participate in the development of research proposals to help shape the future of quantum bioinformatics 

 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field

  • Strong background in algorithm design and optimization, with experience in quantum computing 

  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages 

  • Experience with quantum computing frameworks - e.g. Qiskit, Cirq - would be a plus but is not required 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with researchers and developers from diverse backgrounds

  • Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
