The Institute for Computational Systems Biology directed by Prof. Dr. Jan Baumbach at the Universität Hamburg is looking for a highly motivated and creative student, who is interested in working with us as a part-time Science Communicator (m/f/d). Your role will be in generating a streamlined communication strategy of our research including the creation of material for our web presence, scientific publications, third party funding applications as well as teaching.

 

What we offer:

• A student assistant position (“studentische Hilfskraft” or “wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft”) for up to 36 h/month

• Start: September 1st, 2023 – initial contract for 1 year with possibility of extension

• While on-site work is preferred, off-site work can be discussed 

 

Your responsibilities will include the following:

• Creation of a science communication strategy for our web presence (website, social media)

• Maintenance of website and social media accounts

• Shaping of CoSy.Bio’s brand 

• Creation of a science communication strategy for scientific publications, third-party funding applications and teaching material

• Consultation with CoSy.Bio scientists 

• Close collaboration with a resident graphic design assistant

 

Your qualifications:

• Previous experience in science communication

• Some background in biomedicine, biology, or similar is ideal

• Solid German and English skills, at least one of these as a native tongue

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to work independently, dependability, flexibility, willingness to cooperate and work in a team
