SysMedQC

SysMedQC is an innovative research group at the cutting edge of systems medicine and quantum computing. We focus on developing hybrid bioinformatics and quantum algorithms to advance molecular data analysis, aiming to transform systems and precision medicine.

Our mission is to harness the power of quantum computing to enhance the understanding of complex biological systems, improve diagnostic accuracy, and accelerate therapeutic discovery. Led by Dr. Mhaned Oubounyt at the University of Hamburg in collaboration with ParityQC, our interdisciplinary team works closely with computational scientists, clinicians, and technology partners to push the boundaries of medicine through quantum-enhanced bioinformatics.

Dr. Mhaned Oubounyt is a Junior Group Leader at the Institute for Computational Systems Biology, University of Hamburg, in collaboration with ParityQC. He leads the QuADro project, an interdisciplinary effort combining bioinformatics and quantum computing to advance molecular data analysis, aiming to enhance both systems medicine and precision medicine through innovative quantum computing approaches. Additionally, he works as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the NetMap project, developing novel dimensionality reduction techniques leveraging differential regulatory networks. During his PhD, he focused on developing computational tools for single-cell network biology analysis.

I joined CoSy.Bio as a student assistant in June 2025. As part of the QuADro project, I work on improving the efficiency of constructing gene regulatory networks from single-cell RNA transcriptomic data using quantum algorithms.

I am currently studying Computing in Science with a focus on Biochemistry at the University of Hamburg

Since May 2025, I have been a Ph.D. student at CoSy.Bio as part of the QuADro project, where we develop quantum methods for statistical learning in network medicine.
I have a background in Bioinformatics, holding a Bachelor’s degree from UHH and a Master’s degree from TUM / LMU in Munich. During my studies, I worked as a student assistant with Prof. Stefan Kurtz in the field of genome informatics. For my Master’s thesis, I joined the DaiSyBio group led by Prof. Markus List, focusing on the spatial mapping of single cells using machine learning approaches.
